CT 70 ENGINE RESTORATION

Here is a motor that I bought of off EBay for $45.00 I will show you how to restore this engine to like new condition.

When I received the motor it was an absolute mess The guy said it turned over I don't know how he turned it over because the piston was seized and rusted in the bore.  He then pressure washed the engine and the whole bottom end was full of water and oil mixture so a full tear down was in order.

Here is the motor completely torn down and cleaned up.  I cleaned all the parts in solvent, then bead blasted the cylinder head, clutch cover, right side cam cover, and the top head cover.  I cleaned the center case half's with alumaprep and a little steel wool this brings out the original shine of the cast aluminum.  I sent the Head and bore out to the machine shop to for a valve seat job and a bore job.

OUCH!!  My clutch cover has a few nicks and scratches to fix these I first knocked down the high spots with 420 grit sand paper then I use spot filler to fill the scratches.  After the spot filler was sanded down I sprayed the cover with filler primer and then shot it with dupli color wheel paint, It is a close match to the original Honda color.   And yes I also replaced the nut on the clutch adjustment

Assembly has started, here is the completed crank case.

I Have Put the cases back together and I am now using my CT70 CLUTCH NUT TOOL to tighten the spanner nut on the clutch.
